Chetta idea - 1

Alternative title: proposal for a health care project.

Diseases such as hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, obesity are becoming so common nowadays. It is hard to find people with no diseases. The lifestyle is certainly to be blamed. But what is the use if we just shut our mouth after finding the right thing to blame? Or how would I be different if I leave it there. So, here is a proposal for an automatic health-care system. Well, I know there maybe some treatments, but the idea here is to prevent the diseases.
But, prevention really demands prediction of the disease occurrance much before the disease symptoms show off. But, since I am not a palmist or an astrologist, my proposal is to develop a method to stop the disease as soon as its onset or the symptoms appear. OK... it will become more clear as I go with the concrete examples.

I would like to concentrate on hypertension and diabetes, because they appear to be the most common diseases. As most of you know, the best cure for these diseases is, besides undergoing the medication, to reduce the amount of salt and sugar in the food respectively. But we, humans after all, enjoy the taste of the food rather than its real function. So, we wouldn't like to sacrifice these salts and sugars. So, there is a clear need to develop some device which monitors the blood pressure and blood glucose levels in the body, and responds to the raise in corresponding levels in the body by automatically generating the taste of salt and sugar respectively. So, when we have higher blood pressure, the normal food (which is prepared by adding sufficient amount of salt in it) would taste too salty because our device would also add the taste of salt. In such a condition we would be forced to avoid adding salt to the food. Since the device responds similarly to the raising blood glucose levels, we would be forced to avoid using sugars as soon as our blood glucose levels raise. So the problems are solved!

So, now that we made the theoretical outline, we need to figure out the right technology to implement such a device. Let me think. Yessss, Nanotechnology. Sounds fancy enough! We will manufacture some nano-tubes that fit into the pores of our tongue (or somewhere on the tongue), and these tubes would have the feature that is described above. Now... propose a name for this technology!

hmmm everything seems nice except for the tubes fitting in the tongues oohh aaah auuuch, may be a bit difficult to plant them and manage them as well on a daily basis. May be we can check which we prepare the food itself!

Zen talk, nice name for the space and I like the idea!
First about the two diseases (hypertension and diabetes), the problem with these two disorders is that salt and sugar are not the only parameters we should control. In fact, if the amount of sugar or salts are not well regulated, we have to fix the organ systems that regulate them. Thus your nanodevice shall not be an independent delivery device, but as a system that works synchro/or supplements the filtering systems related to these substances. When to release (delivery), when to absorb (buffer)... This idea of nanodevice has been thought also for other nutrient delivery system such as vitamins and minerals... looking forwards!

Yes, these diseases are more complex and controlling all factors is nearly impossible. Moreover, drugs aim at regulating the organs which metabolize sugars etc.

Our imagenary nanodevice, which will never come into existence :-), is something which allows the poor patients to still enjoy the enticing tastes which are distructive for their health.

Also, nanodevice is just one idea that flashed suddenly. We can perhaps think of other ways of administering "such thing".

ZyXEL VMG3326 D20A ADSL modem Linux wireless network problem

I bought 10Mbps ADSL network connection from Saunalahti . It works all perfect except for this little glitch I had with it: from my Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) or Ubuntu machine, I could not get the wireless network. While a windows machine and two android phones can access the wifi signals from the modem, the Linux machines can't even see the SSID of my network. In the beginning when I had just setup the modem I could access the wireless network from my LMDE machine. I started noticing the problem with the network, when I turned off my ADSL modem one day and in the evening turned it on. While all other machines got the connection as soon as the modem was up, my Linux machine could not detect the signal. After a little bit of messing around, I concluded that, for Linux to receive the wireless signal without a problem and to get the connection after the modem restarts, I need to follow the following protocol. I need to turn the wifi off on the modem by pressing a blue butto

Installation of ATI catalyst propreitary driver on LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition)

Google turns up many posts explaining how to install the ATI catalyst proprietary drivers on LMDE. Take this post as just an additional information. In my case, the installation did not work until I accidentally installed another package, x11-xserver-utils.  Thus, in my case, the installation of the drivers was as follows: sudo apt-get install x11-xserver-utils sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx* sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install fglrx-driver fglrx-control sudo /usr/bin/aticonfig --initial sudo reboot I think the reason it worked this way was because computer couldn't recognize the correct graphic device version before the installation of x11-xserver-utils.
